Understanding the NEET 2019 Pattern

The first thing which the candidate has to understand is the pattern of the exam. This will help in deciding what is the difficult section, which has to be more focused on and other things. It is being said that National Testing Agency (NTA) might conduct the NEET 2019. There may be some minor changes in the paper, but overall it is expected to remain same.

  • Pattern of the exam

NEET exam consists of 3 sections: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The distribution of the questions in the exam is as follows:

  • Marking Scheme: There is a set marking scheme as well according to which the candidate will be getting the marks and the percentile in the exam. For every correct answer, the candidate will be getting 4 marks and for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • Type of Paper: The paper will be conducted in online mode.
  • Type of Question: The questions will be of standard class 11 and class 12 NCERT pattern paper.

October 2018 Now that the concepts have been built, the candidate should start practising the questions of slightly difficult levels. This is for both first-timers and droppers. It can be increased as per the understanding of the candidate.

January 2019 At this point, the candidate must be sufficiently clear in the concepts so that they can attempt the full mocks along with the analysis of the mocks in detail.
February 2019
March 2019 Revision of the concepts, formulas etc should be the priority at this point. Since there are a lot of formulas and other things to be kept in mind,

May 2019 No new concepts should be learnt at this point. More time should be given to relaxing the mind so that the best can be given in the exam. Small revisions can be done

Study Timetable of NEET 2019 for Chemistry

  • Chemistry- Most students fear this section because of one thing,” Organic Chemistry”. With so many reactions for memorizing, definitely, it would not be easy. But if prepared in an organised manner, surely it will be an easy breeze.

For Physical Chemistry, prepare from NCERT and have your concepts clarified at your coaching institute if you have taken it up. After you are done with the chapter, write down all equations from the chapter in a notebook for speedy reference while solving problems.

Things to avoid while preparing for NEET 2019

NEET 2019 will contain all types of students- those who have taken a drop, those who will be appearing for the exam first time etc. Whosoever shall appear for the exam, must take note of the things which they must avoid at any cost while preparing for the exam. Have a look:

  • Avoid all types of social media. Facebook, Instagram, long hours of surfing- A big NO!! You have to realize the importance of clearing the NEET 2018 Exam as early as possible considering the increasing competition every year. Hence any type of distractions in the study has to be kept at an arm’s distance
  • Taking the scores of the mocks in a negative sense. There might be times when you will score less in the mocks. This should not in any way distract you from your motive of clearing the NEET 2019. Check the reasons why you are getting low marks, is it because of lack of clarity of concepts, mistakes in the calculation, wrong approach and not get demotivated at any cost.
  • Not studying on a regular basis. NEET tests the students on both class 11 and class 12 syllabus. It requires that the candidate studies regularly since they would be having only one year to prepare and a lot of syllabi to be covered simultaneously.
