Odisha PG Medical 2018 Eligibility Criteria

In order get admission in PG Medical courses, candidates need to fulfill the basic eligibility criteria set by DMET, Odisha. Complete eligibility required is stated below:

Domicile: The candidates should be a permanent resident of Odisha.

  • OR – An outside state candidate who studied MBBS from a university / college in Odisha, by receiving admission under 15% All Indian Quota seats, is also eligible.

Education Qualification: Candidates should possess MBBA degree from an institute recognized by MCI.

  • Applicant must have completed 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship latest by March 31, 2018.

Qualifying ExamApplicant must have qualified NEET 2018 with the minimum qualifying marks required. 

Registration with CouncilCandidate must be registered with State/ Central Council of Medical Registration.

Category of Candidates in Odisha PG Medical 2018

There are two types of categories under which candidates are divided:

Direct candidates – Applicant who is either unemployed or under the employment of government of PSU/ Odisha. The applicant must not have completed 3 years of service as on March 31, 2018.

In-service candidates – If an applicant is serving Government of Odisha/Govt. of Orissa Public Sector Undertakings/Govt. of India, Public Sector Undertakings located in Odisha / defence service in Odisha and has also completed 3 years of service by March 31, 2018.

  • Such candidates will be given additional weightage only if they have qualified NEET PG 2018 and have worked in the specific institution.
  • The applicant will be awarded 10% of marks obtained in PG entrance examination per year of completion of the job. The maximum of 30% marks secured in the entrance exam can be awarded.

Odisha PG Medical 2018 Application Form and Choice Filling

If the candidates want to be considered for Odisha PG Medical 2018 admission, they should register online for the counselling process on or before the last date of registration.

The applicant can fill the application form in 4 simple steps as stated below:

Step 1: Odisha PG Medical 2018 Registration

First of all, an applicant is required to register on the website of DMET, Odisha by providing NEET 2018 testing ID and Date of Birth. Thereafter, applicants must enter mobile number in order to get OTP. After the registration process is complete they must ensure that they have created their own password which will be required for the further process. The direct link to register will be provided on this page when made available.

Step 2: Filling of Application Form and Choice Filling

While filling the application form applicant is required to enter personal information as well as academic information. Also, they will have to state the choices for the course and colleges. Before finally submitting the form, ensure that all the information provided is correct as it will be used for seat allotment. If any information is found to be incorrect during any stage of counselling, it may lead to cancellation of candidature. No modification will be possible after clicking on Final Submission.

Step 3: Take a Printout

Take a print out of completed application form as it will be required at the time of document verification.

Verification of Documents

After the application process, a candidate has to appear for document verification process. This a mandatory step where the candidates need to carry the printout of the application form and get in verified. The candidates will also have to pay the application fee of Rs. 2500.

  • The fee can be paid via Bank Draft, prepared in favour of “Convenor PG (Medical) Counselling Committee”, payable at Burla from any SBI.

In case of emergency, any authorized person can also attend the counselling on behalf of the student. Candidates who will successfully get through the verification round will be placed a position in the merit list.

Odisha PG Medical 2018 Merit List

The convener will release merit list of all the eligible candidates who will be able to fill choices in the 1st round of counselling. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of NEET PG 2018 score and the candidates who have applied for the counselling. Merit list for Odisha PG Medical 2018 will have a name of the applicant, application number, NEET PG 2018 AIR, state rank, and score. At the same time, seat matrix will also be released stating the number of seats available in Odisha colleges and institutions.

Odisha PG Medical 2018 Seat Allotment

After the release of merit list candidates have to appear for the 1st round of online counselling. Here they must fill choices for which they want to get admitted. Thereafter, candidates must lock the set preference and wait for seat allotment result.

Applicants are allotted seats on the basis of NEET 2018 score and choice made for the program. Now they must download the allotment cum admission letter by logging into the id using application number and password.

Now, a candidate should personally appear before the Convener on the specified date and time at the address provided in order to get provisional admission. The candidate has to deposit original college and school leaving certificate along with required admission fee. After depositing the documents and admission fee provisional admission letter will be issued to the applicant.

To complete the admission process, an applicant must report to the authority of institution before the last date and submit a copy of provisional admission letter.

If there are not enough candidates to fill the reserved seats, then the seats left vacant will be filled by candidates of the unreserved category. If seats are left vacant under the in-service category, it will be filled by candidates under the direct category.

Distribution of Seats

All the seats available under state quota will be distributed among in-service and direct candidates on 50:50 basis. If the total seats are odd in number, the distribution will be done between in-service and direct applicant on a year to year rotation basis. All the seats left vacant under All India Quota will again be distributed equally among both category candidates.
