The NTA will prepare an All India Merit List on the basis marks obtained by the candidate in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NTA will only include those candidates in merit list who will score more than the minimum qualifying percentile. Two types of merit list are available for NEET 2020:
NTA will prepare 15% All India merit list for those who applied under the quota seats. The Board will then forward the merit list to DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for the purpose of allotment of seats by Online Counselling to 15% All India Quota Seats.
Whereas, for admission under other than 15% All India Quota, i.e., State Medical Colleges/ Universities/ Institutions, the NTA provides only All India Rank. NTA gives the result to DGHS, to forward the same to the Admitting Authorities. The candidates then have to apply at the official website of the Admitting Authorities. These authorities then draw a merit list of the candidates in the respective categories.
In case of two or more candidates obtain equal marks in NEET 2020, their inter-se merit will be determined as per the below given rules:
The result of NEET 2020 will not be re-evaluated under any circumstances. The answers are checked through the machine and the possibility of error is close to none. Also, NTA did provide candidates an opportunity to report errors in the OMR. At that time, the scrutiny was done and required changes were made. Hence, there shall be no provision for NEET 2020 Result re-checking.
After the announcement of Result, the counselling will begin. The candidates whose name is included in the merit list will then be eligible to appear for NEET 2020 Counselling. The counselling for candidates under 15% All India Quota seats will be done by Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Whereas, the State Quota Counselling, will be held by the concerned authorities. At the time of Counselling, the candidates need to report as per the schedule is given along with the relevant proof for Date of Birth, Academic Background, Category, etc.
To appear for the counselling under other than 15% All India Quota Seats, the candidates need to first apply for counselling at the concerned State Authorities official website. The Admitting Authorities will prepare the merit list on the basis of All India Rank.
