NEET 2018 Question Paper

Type of questions: The NEET 2018 question paper has all multiple choice questions. Each question is followed by four options (1, 2, 3, 4). Only one answer is correct.

Number of questions: There are 180 questions overall in NEET 2018 question paper. It is divided into 45 – physics, 45 – chemistry, 90 – biology.

Mode of answering: Candidates need to mark answers in machine gradable OMR sheets provided to them at the exam centres.

Language of NEET 2018 Question Paper: The NEET 2018 Question Paper is in 11 languages namely English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu. Those who opted for NEET question paper to be in English got paper in English only. Those who opted for other languages got bilingual paper – in language selected and English.

NEET 2018 Question Paper: Calculate Marks

Candidates can calculate their scores once they have question papers and answer keys. To calculate score, use following marking scheme.

NEET 2018 Answer Keys

A little while after NEET exam gets over, NEET 2018 Answer Keys are published online. Students can check them code-wise (A, B, C, D, P, Q, R, S, W, X, Y, Z). On May 6, answer keys are published by institutes other than CBSE. They are unofficial, yet useful as students immediately get all answers after exam.

Official answer keys: Exam conducting body, CBSE, will also release official answer keys. However that will be available much later, around the third or fourth week of May. Last year CBSE had release official answer keys around ten days before result. Since result of NEET 2018 will be announced on June 5, it is likely that NEET 2018 Answer Keys by CBSE will be available in last week of May.

Challenge answer keys: Candidates can also challenge the NEET 2018 Answer Keys which are released by CBSE. In order to let students challenge them, CBSE will provide a login link for a limited period of time at cbseneet.nic.in. Candidates can login and challenge official answer keys by selection question, answer, and paying fee of Rs 1000 per question challenged.

NEET 2018 Solution

NEET 2018 Solution is published subject wise. There are separate PDFs for NEET 2018 Physics Solution, NEET 2018 Chemistry Solution, and NEET 2018 Biology Solution.

Physics solution has detailed answers of all 45 questions asked in physics section in NEET 2018 question paper. Similarly chemistry solution has all explanations for 45 questions of chemistry section of NEET 2018 question paper. Likewise biology solution contains solved answers of 90 questions of biology paper of NEET 2018 question paper.

NEET 2018 Analysis

NEET 2018 Analysis tells overall difficulty level of exam. It also talks about which questions and sections were toughest and easiest for students. Publishing analysis helps students who appeared for NEET on May 6 to assess where they stand.

NEET 2018 Physics Analysis: Physics is easiest of the three section in NEET. Out of 45 questions, 22 are most probably from class XII and 23 from class XI. Around 30 questions are moderate and 10 are very easy. Topics that have most weightage in NEET 2018 question paper are:

Electrodynamics 26.7%
Thermodynamics And Kinetic Theory 4.5%
Optics And Wave Optics 4.5%
Modern Physics And Nuclear Physics 6.7%

NEET 2018 Chemistry Analysis: Students find Chemistry toughest in NEET. Here also there are 45 questions with around 25 questions from class XII and 20 from class XI. Almost 6 questions are difficult, 1 easy and 38 moderate. Distribution of marks among three sections of chemistry in NEET 2018 question paper are:

Organic Chemistry 35.6%
Inorganic Chemistry 28.9%
Physical Chemistry 35.6%

NEET 2018 Biology Analysis: Rightly called the make or break section, Biology in NEET is a moderate section. It has 90 questions on botany and zoology. Number of questions that come from class XI syllabus are around 42 and 48 come from class XI syllabus. In it, 25 questions are easy, 60 are moderate and 5 can be difficult. Broad division of marks in NEET 2018 Question Paper is:

Applied Biology 13.3%
Botany 38.9%
Zoology 47.8%

NEET 2018 Cut Off

Candidates must obtain NEET 2018 Cut Off which is minimum percentile on order to qualify NEET. CBSE has already set the cut off percentile for all categories. Other than minimum marks to clear exam, NEET 2018 cut off may also refer to minimum marks to get admission in medical and dental colleges.

Cut Off Percentile: For unreserved category, 50th percentile is the cut off. SC, ST, OBC candidates have to obtain 40th percentile. UR-PH candidates need to have 45th percentile in order to clear cut off. PH candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC categories should have 40th percentile.

Cut Off Marks: CBSE has only fixed the percentile cut off. The board reveals marks against which that percentile is achieved in NEET 2018 while declaring result. Last year the cut off scores were:

  • UR-PH – 118
