CBSE is all set to conduct NEET 2018 tomorrow, on May 6. Overall 13,26,725 candidates have applied this time. This is a 16.5% rise from last year.

The board has published detailed statistics of the examination today that shows that exam is being held in 136 cities at 2255 centres.

Candidate Count

Of the 13.26 lakh students, 5,80,648 are male candidates accounting for 43.8% of registrations. 7,46,076 are female candidates making up 56.23% applicants. Only 1 transgender student will be appear for NEET.

The number of Indian nationals who have applied is 13,23,672. 530 OCI candidates have applied for this national level medical entrance exam through which MBBS and BDS admission is offered in MCI and DCI approved medical and dental colleges except AIIMS, JIPMER.

NRI candidates have also applied to the tune of 1842. In addition, 621 foreigner students and 60 PIO have also registered. This brings the distribution of Indians, OCI, NRI, Foreigner, PIO to 99.77%, .04%, .14%, .05%, and .005%.

State Wise Registrations

State wise registration data reveals that the states with highest number of NEET 2018 students are Maharashtra with 1,83,961 registrations, Kerala with 1,20,792 registrations, Uttar Pradesh with 1,14,306 registrations, and Tamil Nadu with 1,07,288 registrations.

Close behind are Rajasthan with 99,844 registrations and Karnataka with 96,377 registrations. 75,167 students are appearing for NEET 2018 in Gujarat and 59,390 will take the test in West Bengal. From Delhi, the number of candidates who are appearing are 57,373.

Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh have close number of students sitting for NEET: 50,856, 49,316, 49,210.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test [NEET (UG) 2018] as per regulations of Indian Medical Council Act 1956.

After the exam, NEET 2018 Answer Key will be available, which candidates can use to check their answers and calculate score. CBSE will officially release answer keys around ten days before result and candidates will be able to challenge them also. 

The board will publish statistics of actual number of candidates who appeared for exam alongwith results. Last year, 95.7% candidates appeared for exam. 53.7% candidates had qualified.

In order to qualify NEET, candidates must get qualifying marks which is set at 50th percentile for unreserved category candidates, 40th percentile for OBC, SC, ST, 45th percentile for UR-PH, and 40th percentile for OBC/SC/ST-PH.

All students will see their scores and qualifying status in NEET 2018 Result. On basis of rank, candidates can participate in counselling for admission at all-India level, state level, and institute level.
