JIPMER PG 2019 is the entrance exam that is being conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry for admission to MD/MS programs. JIPMER PG 2019 Eligibility Criteria
The foremost important step before applying for any exam is to check the eligibility criteria. Candidates are hereby strictly advised to cross-check their eligibility criteria before registering and applying for JIPMER PG 2019. Candidates desirous of applying must judiciously check the eligibility criteria in order to have their application form for JIPMER PG 2019 accepted without it being rejected on the grounds of not meeting any of the following criteria:
- Indian Nationals or Overseas Indian Citizens
- Non-Resident Indiana(FN)
Education Qualification: MBBS or equivalent degree as recognized by the Medical Council of India. Minimum Qualifying Marks are as given below:
- 50% for ST / SC candidates
- 55% for the other categories including OBC
- OPH candidates will have reservation based on the above two said categories, i.e., as per the category to which an OPH candidate belongs.
Experience: A period of 12 months of Rotating Internship / Practical Training
Application Status: Candidates who have already done their MD / MS will not be considered eligible to apply for JIPMER PG 2019.
NRI Candidates Admission Requirements
- Non-Resident Candidates will be required to appear for JIPMER PG 2019 examination.
- NRI candidates will have to route their application through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
- They will have to get their MBBS Degree registered in the Medical Council of their respective countries.
- Also, NRI candidates will have to take prior permission from the Medical Council of India before applying for Postgraduate Courses in the Institute.
JIPMER PG 2019 Application Form
JIPMER PG 2019 registration and application form filling along with the payment of requisite application fee must be done online on the official website: www.jipmer.puducherry.gov.in. It is of prior importance to keep the relevant documents like valid and working mobile number and email address, last qualifying exam’s mark sheets, class 10th, and 12th mark sheets, candidate’s recent passport size photograph and scanned copy of signature as per the official specifications for quick and accurate reference while filling in JIPMER PG 2019 application form. Candidates are requested to follow the below given steps for successful JIPMER PG 2019 Application form submission
Step 1- Register Online: Visit the official website www.jipmer.puducherry.gov.in and click on “Apply on-line MD/MS admission”. Fill in personal details like Name, Date of Birth, Contact Details.
Step 2- Generate User ID and Password: User ID and Password will be generated per candidate only after the candidate verifies his/her email by the link that will be sent during online registration.
Step 3- Application Form Filling: With the sent User ID and Password, candidates will have to log in. Once logged in candidates will have to fill the complete application form. Details like the selection of category, qualification details, experience are to be filled. Candidates are advised to fill all the details with extreme care and without any error.
Step 4- Pay Application Fee: Candidates will be required to pay the relevant application fee (mentioned in detail below) as per their category via online mode of payment only.

JIPMER PG 2019 Admit Card
The admit card for JIPMER PG 2019 has been rolled on the official website only. It has been issued a few days prior to the day of examination. The availability of admit card has been made only to those candidates who post filling their application form submits the same without any error. On the day of the examination, candidates will have to carry their admit card in original (first copy printout of the downloaded admit card) and a valid Indian Government issued Photo ID proof.
Admit card will carry the following details:
- Name and Date of Birth of the candidate as filled in application form
- Image of Candidate’s Photo and Signature as uploaded
- Allotted Examination City
- Candidate’s Roll Number
JIPMER PG 2019 Exam Pattern
It is crucial for the concerned medical aspirants to go through the detailed JIPMER PG 2019 exam pattern in order to have a better understanding and preparation for the same. The exam pattern of JIPMER PG 2019 is as given below:
Mode of Examination: The exam will be held online, as a Computer-Based Test.
Medium of Examination: The questions in JIPMER PG 2019 will only be in the English language.
Test Duration of Examination: Candidates will get 3 hours or 180 minutes to attempt all the questions.
- No extra time will be granted to any candidate.
Examination Shift: The exam will be held in Single shift only.
- JIPMER PG 2019 exam will be held from 10.00 A.M to 1.00 P.M. The exam timing for the upcoming exam will also be confirmed through the admit card.
Questions will be Asked from: If we are to consider exam pattern, questions will widely range from two subjects, Basic Clinical Sciences and Clinical Sciences.
Type of Questions: All the questions in the exam will be of Objective / Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- For each question, 4 answer options will be mentioned but only one will be correct. Candidates need to choose the correct answer option.
Total No. of Questions: In all, there will be 250 questions in the exam.
- Candidates need to attempt all the questions.
Marking Scheme: For each correct answer, 4 marks will be granted. Whereas, for marking incorrect answer option, negative marking of 1 mark will be implemented.
- No marks will be deducted and/or awarded for such unattended or marked for review answers.

JIPMER PG 2019 Preparation Tips
Regularity Pays: Going by the words of many toppers of JIPMER PG, being regular and consistent with your preparation always work. JIPMER PG 2019 Test Centre
The test centre for JIPMER pg 2019 will be allotted on the candidate’s preference during the online-registration form filling as well as on the first-cum-first basis. The test centre is as follows:
JIPMER PG 2019 Result
The result for JIPMER PG 2019 will be released in the form of Merit / Rank List on the basis of marks secured in JIPMER PG 2019 examination. This will be prepared for different categories. Candidates who will appear successfully for JIPMER 2019, post the exam being conducted will have to wait for the merit list which will be declared only on the official website. Candidates are to note that the marks and the percentile score per candidate will be mentioned, once released, on the official website. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of percentile score calculation, as mentioned in detail in the attached prospectus down-below. The following merit lists will be prepared:

JIPMER PG 2019 Counselling
Once the merit list and overall final result for JIPMER PG 2019 will be released as per the dates in accordance with the chosen session, candidates according to their rank will be called in for counselling. A candidate who will have a higher rank will be given preference in the consecutive round of counselling, i.e, in the 1st round of counselling those candidates as per the above-mentioned merit lists will be called in who have procured higher merit as and when compared with the ones who have a low ranking in the JIPMER PG 2019 merit list. Candidates whose name will be issued for JIPMER PG 2019 counselling will have to be present in person at the then to be mentioned venue and time.
- Selected candidates called in for counselling will have to register first from the official website.
- Verification of Biometric FingerPrint and image verification. Candidates who pass the verification will have to proceed with the relevant certificates verification.
- Submission of original certificates like category certificate, OPH certificate, and the likes will have to be done along with self-attested photocopies of the same.
- Candidates will be thereafter asked to choose their discipline as per their rank. Once done, the admission fee for the final round of admission (as mentioned below on our page) under JIPMER PG 2019 will be done.
- Enrolled candidates for admission will be given a Letter of Admission.
JIPMER PG 2019 Selection Process
The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of JIPMER PG merit/rank, followed by the counselling and seat allotment. Another important feature for admission selection of JIPMER PG 2019 will be the medical examination. Candidates offered a seat in the counselling will have to undergo a medical examination and biometric (Finger-print / signature) verification in order to finally get Admission Letter, provided they clear the said medical examination.
