Planning is required to effectively study for class 12 board exams along with NEET preparation. The only favorable factor is that the syllabus for NEET is same as the class 11th and 12th syllabus. Thus, whatever you study for your board exams will only add to your preparation for NEET.

Key points to be kept in mind to effectively manage board exam preparation with NEET preparation:

  • Attend school as regularly as feasible (considering coaching classes and other factors). Be attentive in classes.
  • Keep self written notes and refer them from time to time.
  • After finishing each chapter, solve NCERT questions. They are critical for NEET as well as board exams.
  • Before referring any reference book, make sure you are thorough with NCERT.
  • Solve past year board papers in a time bound manner (sit down with the paper in an isolated room, and attempt it in same time duration that will be available in your board exams).

How to prepare for NEET

#4  Your strengths, weaknesses, and aptitude

Ask yourself the following questions.

  1. Which topics am I very good at?
  2. Which topics I absolutely do not know about?
  3. How much time does it take for me to understand and practice one chapter?

Identifying strengths and weaknesses is the key to start your NEET preparation. You need to work hard on your weak areas, perhaps devote more time to them from the beginning. Only understanding a topic is not enough. To ace the exam, you need to master each topic. Especially those where weightage of marks is more, time and hard work need to be put in.

#5 Time management for NEET 2018 preparation

You have time to grasp new topics and revise old ones. Divide time well between school, coaching, self studies. Chart a schedule and stick to it. Points to keep in mind while making a time table.

  • Divide time realistically. Do not assign unachievable targets. For example, if you think it will take you one hour to study a chapter, assign one and half hour. Maybe you will get stuck on a topic and will need extra time.
  • Keep short term and long term goals. For example, you can assign one week to completing six chapters in total, and in the day wise time table know when you will complete each.
  • Make time table for each week, but on a 6 day basis. Keep one day for revision or extra time allotment.
  • Allot yourself at least one day each fortnight to practice mock tests or sample papers.

#6 Solve NEET previous year papers

The syllabus only indicates the topics from which questions will be asked. To understand the level of difficulty, you must practice questions from NEET previous year papers. Get all the NEET past year papers.

Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.
