CBSE NEET 2018 Notification

Medical aspirants across the country had been waiting for the CBSE NEET 2018 application form, and now it is finally here. On the evening of 8th February, CBSE released the first official notification of NEET 2018. It is titled as admission notice. Available in both English and Hindi, the notice starts with establishing what NEET UG 2018 is.

The key takeaways from the notification are:

CBSE NEET 2018 will be the single medical entrance exam for MBBS/BDS admission in all colleges of India except AIIMS and JIPMER.

Aadhaar number is necessary to apply, unless you will appear in JnK, Meghalaya, Assam.

The CBSE NEET 2018 will be a pen and paper based test with 180 multiple choice questions. Each question will be followed by four options, out of which, only one will be correct.

There will be questions on physics, chemistry, biology (botany, zoology).

Overall duration of exam will be 3 hours.

Now comes the most interesting part, eligibility. Eligibility criteria of CBSE NEET 2018 has undergone major changes. The final eligibility is as follows.

You should be an Indian national, or NRI or OCI or PIO or Foreign national.

You should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December 2018 in order to be eligible for CBSE NEET 2018.

Moreover, you should not be more than 25 years old as on date of exam (or 30 years if you are SC, ST, OBC, PH). Therefore if you are an unreserved candidate then your date of birth should lie between 07.05.1993 and 01.01.2002. Otherwise if you belong to SC/ST/OBC/PH then your date of birth should lie between 07.05.1988 and 01.01.2002.

You should have passed physics, chemistry, biology/biotechnology and English individually and also have obtained 50% in PCB in qualifying exam. Those who belong to SC/ST/OBC should have 40% instead of 50%. Likewise general PH candidates should have 45% and SC/ST/OBC PH should have 40%.

Unfortunately, for thousands of open school candidates who were looking forward to CBSE NEET 2018, they cannot apply. As per CBSE NEET 2018 notification, open school as well as private candidates are not eligible.

Moreover, those who have biology/biotechnology as additional subject cannot apply or will not be eligible.

Another major change is that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have decided to join and contribute their MBBS/BDS seats for allotment to 15% All India Quota. So candidates AP, TS shall also be eligible for 15% All India Quota.

CBSE NEET 2018 Application Form

Candidates can apply online. The online application form is active in the duration given above. Considering that forms are being filled quite late, as compared to previous years, so chances of form date extension are almost nil. This time the board has not extended deadlines for form for other exams such as JEE also.
