AIIMS Ph.D. 2019 – All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, releases the AIIMS Ph.D. 2019 final result at the official website, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, conducts the entrance examination of AIIMS Ph.D. 2019, on May 21, 2019. There are three stages in the selection process of AIIMS Ph.D. 2019. The first and second stage (combined) is the examination in online mode which is held in Delhi/NCR only. AIIMS Ph.D. 2019

The duration of the course will be from the time of admission to the submission of the thesis. The minimum period of the course will be 3 years. Please note that the maximum registration period can only be 5 years only. It can further be exceeded only by the recommendation by the final decision of Dean. Failing to submit the thesis within the time period even after extending their period, will result in cancellation of the candidate’s Ph.D. registration.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who will be applying for the course must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1.  (A) Medical Qualification: The candidate must have a degree in MBBS/BDS with at least 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch in the concerned subject. The degree received from the college should be recognized by MCI.
    (B) Nursing Qualification: The candidate who has M.Sc degree with at least 55% aggregate marks in Nursing Speciality can also apply for Ph.D. admission.
  2.  Non-Medical: The candidates who have a master’s degree awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent are eligible. The candidates who hold M.Sc (other than M.Sc nursing), M.Tech and BAMS degree will be eligible.

Please note that candidates who have Masters degree through distance learning are not eligible to apply.

Candidates having eligibility under non-medical category must have at least 60% marks in the last eligibility exam qualified. These candidates must have at least qualified in any one of the examinations listed below in the last 2 years:

AIIMS Ph.D. 2019 Syllabus

Following is the last year’s stage-wise syllabus of the examination. The 2019 syllabus will be updated here as sson as it gets released.

Stage  I :

Cell Biology, Lab technology, English (Written and verbal skills), Biostatistics & Research Methodology,  etc.

Stage II:

Subject related theory of MD/MS/MDS/M.Sc. Entrance level.

AIIMS Ph.D. 2019 Exam Pattern

The AIIMS Ph.D. 2019 exam will be in two stages. The details are given below:

Stage I

  • Number of questions: 30
  • Mode of exam: Online
  • Marks: 1 mark each
  • Question Type: MCQs
  • Syllabus: English (written and verbal skills), Biostatistics, Research Methodology, Cell Biology, Lab Technology etc.

Stage II 

  • Number of questions: 40
  • Mode of exam: Online
  • Marks: 1 mark each
  • Question Type: MCQs
  • Syllabus: Subject related theory, MD/MS/MDS/M.Sc

Total Marks (Stage I & II): 70 (30+40)
Total Duration (Stage I & II): 90 Minutes

The candidates have to score more than 35 marks in stage I and II to qualify for stage III which is the departmental assessment.

For Medical Candidates:

The candidates who will fulfill the following two criteria will be awarded special weightage 20 marks to the total score of stage I and II.

  • The candidates are eligible to stage III
  • They hold a medical degree in  MBBS/BDS/MDS/DNB/MD/MS/DM/M.Ch or M.Sc nursing or equivalent

For nonmedical Candidates:

The candidates who will fulfill the following two criteria will be awarded special weightage 20 marks to the total score of stage I and II.

  • The candidates are eligible for stage III
  • The candidates have also qualified in any one of the following entrance tests in the last 2 years: Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, ICMR-JRF, ICMR-SRF, DBT-JRF, DBT- SRF, NBHM screening test, Graduate aptitude test, INSPIRE fellowship, UGC-JRF, UGC-SRF, CSIR-JRF, CSIR-SRF, DST-JRF, DST-SRF.

Evaluation For Stage I & II

  • Correct Response: 1 mark will be awarded
  • Incorrect Response: 1/3 marks will be deducted
  • Answered marked for review: No marks will be deducted
  • Unattempted answers: No marks will be deducted

Exam Preparation

Here are some useful tips that will help the candidate to prepare for the entrance examination:

  • Use flow charts and diagram: Visual aids are really very helpful. We can remember things which we see more than the things we read. So, when it is advised when a student is learning a concept, he or she should make a diagram or a flow chart of the same so that when they revise it in the future they will remember everything.
  • Use the internet: The internet is full of useful resources. There are many educational websites that provide information on n number of topics. The students can refer to those sites for a more simpler explanation than compared to books. Also, there will be many educational videos for the same.
  • Revise what you have learned. Go through the books related to the topics. Revise everything that you have studied before. Make new notes so that the content that is being learned is fresh in the mind.
  • Summarise. When a student is done studying a topic he or she should summarize and write it in their own words to know how much he or she actually understood.

AIIMS Ph.D. 2019 Test Center

The entrance examination of AIIMS PhD programmes is usually conducted in Delhi/NCR only. The mode of examination will be online only. The candidates must submit the application form on time to be able to appear for the test.

Application Form

The application form tor AIIMS PhD programme will be available on the official website  The cost of the application form also includes the application fee which is non-refundable.

The candidates have to fill in all the necessary details asked in the form. It is the responsibility of the candidates to fill the information in the application form. Any wrong information filled in the form will not be corrected by the conducting body under any circumstances.

The candidates will have to fill their signature, photograph, and left thumb impressions. Please ensure that they are uploaded in the format prescribed by the conducting body only.

They have to then pay the application fees which can be paid through the following ways:

  1. Net banking
  2. Debit Card
  3. Credit Card

Last year, the category wise fee structure for examination was as follows:

After the application form is submitted, an acknowledgment of successful submission will be sent to the candidate’s email. The form registered will be under review regarding the uploaded documents and eligibility. The candidates can check their status of application two days before the closing date of application submission. The candidates whose images go rejected can be uploaded again but before the closing of the application submission only.

AIIMS Ph.D. 2019 Admit Card

The admit card for AIIMS 2019 PhD is uploaded on the official website after the application forms have been successfully submitted. In case if the admit card is not available for any candidate, he or she must report immediately to the Assistant Controller of Examinations through email at [email protected]

The admit cards which are generated must be brought on the day of the exam by the candidate otherwise he or she will not be allowed to sit in the examination hall. It also has to be kept in good condition.

AIIMS Ph.D. 2019Result

The result will be declared on the official website. First, the result of the written examination will be published. The candidates who will qualify in the examination will then go for stage III which is the departmental assessment. The final result of the candidates who will be qualify will be released separately. The result declaration notification will not be sent to the candidates individually.

Selection Procedure

The candidate will be selected through three-stage performance. In the first stage, they have to prepare for the examination. The examination consists of Stage I and II. The candidates have to score at least 35 marks in the stages combined to qualify for stage III.

The candidates who will qualify in the written examination will be called for stage III which is the departmental assessment which will be of 20 marks. These marks will be added to the marks of stages I and II + special weightage to prepare the final merit list.

Tie Breaking Criteria:

The tie will be broken according to the date of birth. The older candidate shall get the preference over the younger candidate.
